Paea LePendu
Assistant Professor at UC Riverside
Dr. LePendu's research is in Biomedical Informatics and currently focuses on AI in medicine. He previously worked as a scientist at Stanford University in large-scale text analytics for electronic medical records and became known for advancing the state of the art in pharmacovigilance. He was Director of Data Science for the Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation focusing on health analytics for the indigent, and he co-founded a health analytics company in Silicon Valley that secured $2M in venture seed funding.
Mariam Salloum
Assistant Teaching Professor at UC Riverside
Dr. Salloum received her Ph.D. from UCR (advisor Vassilis Tsotras). Prior to joining UCR, she was a Visiting Professor at Claremont McKenna College and at Boston College. She has worked in the industry as Data Scientist and as a Member of the Technical Staff. Her research area is in data integration, big data visualization, machine learning, and database management.
